feeling guilt
Guilt can be a factor in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and people with OCD may experience guilt in a variety of ways:
Rumination: People with OCD may ruminate excessively about past actions or inactions, which can lead to guilt, shame, and anxiety. They may become fixated on the event and worry about their character, morality, and goodness.
Obsessions: Guilt can lead to obsessions about actions or thoughts, which can then become uncontrollable. For example, people with OCD may feel guilty about a thought or action, and then become obsessed with making reparations to ease their guilt. This cycle can be endless.
Self-criticism: People with OCD may experience increased interpersonal guilt, as well as a stronger tendency to self-criticism.
Perfectionism: People with OCD may have a tendency toward perfectionism.
Concern for others: People with OCD may have an increased concern for the suffering of others.
Guilt and OCD; It can either cause a disorder or perpetuate one. OCD and depression are two significant others to guilt. OCD is all about recurring thoughts (obsessions) and actions (compulsions) that are uncontrollable. Guilt can act as a predecessor or an enabler for OCD.
